Lawrence Felten

Lawrence Felten, of Sheboygan, passed away Monday morning, December 7, 2020 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. He was 94 years old. Lawrence was born on January 31, 1926, in Sheboygan to Emil and Theodora (nee Rudy) Felten. He was a 1944 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School, and went on to study at UW Green Bay. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps from 1944-1946. On June 30, 1956, Lawrence married Mary Ann Verlare at Broadway Avenue Gospel Chapel in Sheboygan.  Lawrence was employed at Kohler Company, and later for the City of Sheboygan for 24 years, first as Deputy City Clerk, and later as City Clerk until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church, where he had been involved with Forever Young Senior Group, the Church Council and the choir. Music was his passion, and Lawrence was a founding member of Men of Harmony and King's Delegates Quartet. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Ann Felten and their children: Mary (Larry) Dulmes of Sheboygan, Sue (Paul) Kooiker of Orange City, IA and Larry (Lisa) Felten of Sheboygan. He is further survived by 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Carol Felten, brother-in-law Jack Verlare, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Lawrence was preceded in death by his siblings: Harold, Ruth, Rudy, Raymond, Roland, Lorraine, Emil, Jr., James and Samuel.   A funeral service to celebrate Lawrence's life will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 12:00PM at Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church, 1710 N. 15th St in Sheboygan. Dr. Gary Hylander will officiate. Entombment will take place at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 10:30AM - 12:00PM.  Memorials are suggested in his name to Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church or Campus Life of Sheboygan County. The family would like to thank the staffs of Sharon S.
