Willard Veldman

Willard Veldman, 91, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Pine Haven Christian Communities- Fellowship Home. Willard was born on October 1, 1926, in Sheboygan, WI to Peter and Jennie (Schaap) Veldman. He attended Starlight Grade School and was a 1943 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School. On May 12, 1950, Willard married LaVerne Margaret Hoitink in Cedar Grove. Willard worked for 7 years at Arnoldi Poultry Farm and 40 years at Bemis Manufacturing. Additionally, he was a self-employed tax preparer for over 35 years. Willard was a lifelong member of First Reformed Church of Sheboygan Falls where he served as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Bible Class teacher and was a member of the Men's Brotherhood. He also served for 3 years on the Pine Haven Christian Home Board of Trustees. Willard enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, playing dart ball, playing sheepshead and was an avid Brewers and Packers fan. Most of all, Willard enjoyed spending time with his friends and beloved family. Willard is survived by his twin daughters; Joan (Douglas) Konzak of Hartland and Jean (Mark) Kappers of Sheboygan Falls; six grandchildren, Amie (David Warbler) Konzak, Christopher (Sarah) Konzak, Angie (Eric) Ruscheinsky, Corey (Jenny) Kappers, Carrie (Matt) Nachtwey and Christy (Adam) Torrison; 13 great-grandchildren, Faith, Grace and Carissa Konzak, Anthony, Gianna and Ace Ruscheinsky, Abigail and Kylah Kappers, Natalee, McKenzie and Brookelyn Nachtwey and Ellie and Landen Torrison; two sisters; Gertrude Graaskamp, Sharon (Ronald) Petrauski, sisters-in-law, Evelyn VanWyk and Neva Walvort; Joan Hoitink, Shirley Hoitink; one brother-in-law; Ronald Petrauski. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, his dear Pine Haven family, and other friends.Willard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, LaVerne Veldman; parents, Peter & Jennie Veldman; step mother; Velma Veldman; parents-in-law; Garret and Henrietta Hoitink; two sisters; Helen Bimmel and Delores Hoitink; and 8 brothers-in-law, William VanWyk, Walton Walvort, LaMont Huenink, Winifred Graaskamp, Lloyd Hoitink, Howard Bimmel, Garret Hoitink, and John Hoitink. A funeral service to celebrate Willard's life will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the First Reformed Church of Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Brad Veenendaal officiating. Burial will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family at church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staffs of Pine Haven Christian Communities and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. A memorial fund is being established in his name for Pine Haven Christian Communities and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
