Arlene Leach

Arlene LaVerne (Wirtz) Leach formerly of Kohler, Wisconsin, and Appleton Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 4, 2021.

She was born to William and Leona (Bundt) Wirtz in 1924 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Arlene grew up in the Village of Kohler, and graduated from Kohler High School. She was active in sport, particularly cheerleading, which she loved.

It was through cheerleading that she met her future husband, Lavern Leach. Arlene and Lavern were the first couple married in Bethany Lutheran church in Kohler on February 12th, 1942.

After marriage Arlene then became a Methodist, and became a life-long member of The United Methodist church in Appleton Wisconsin, where the family lived for over forty years.

Arlene thoroughly enjoyed being a wife, mother and housewife, or “house frau” as she jokingly called herself. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family, particularly in Potawatomi and Peninsula state parks. She was happiest wherever her family was, whether in a tent or a canoe or simply being at home.

Arlene was extremely outgoing and vivacious. Once someone met her, they did not soon forget her. To know her was to love her, and she was loved dearly by many friends and family. She will be deeply and dearly missed.

Arlene is survived by her children, Rob Leach (Robin), Randy Leach,(Diane) Jenny Leach and Jon Leach (Laura); grandchildren, William, Anna, Beatrix and Sylvie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lavern and son, Steven Alton Leach.

A funeral service will be held at Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin on Thursday, June 10th, 2021 at 3:00pm. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
