Arlyne Acasio-Heinig, 82, of Plymouth, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023, surrounded by family at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s – Milwaukee.

Arlyne was born on May 31, 1940 in Molokai, Hawaii to the late Alice Kilo (Lani) Acasio and Hipolito Acasio. She attended Molokai High School, Sheboygan County Teachers College, and Lakeland College. She taught elementary school for 30 years in Elkhart Lake, WI, retiring in 2000. Arlyne was proud to be a teacher and received Teacher of the Year award in 1985.

On January 18, 1958, she married Carl Mauk, who preceded her in death. On August 15, 1998, she married Kirk Heinig.

Arlyne was a charter member of the Sheboygan Falls Optimist Club and President of the Teachers’ Union in Elkhart Lake. She attended St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Sheboygan Falls.

Arlyne loved gardening, cooking, and baking. She enjoyed the outdoors through fishing and traveling, especially to Sanibel Island, Las Vegas, and Hawaii. She enjoyed going to estate sales to find treasures for everyone she loved.

She was always helping people and volunteering wherever needed. She was a project manager of a home renovation, “Project Cindy.” She also attended Clown College and was known as Ladybug.

She passed her love of music on to her children and grandchildren. Arlyne could play the ukelele, guitar, piano, and other various instruments. Her husband, Kirk, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and dog, Noah, meant everything to her.

Arlyne is survived by her husband of 24 years and caregiver for the last 11 years, Kirk; children, Karen (Ralph) Holmes, Steven (Kay) Mauk, Dianne (Don) Basler; grandchildren, Daniel (Kortney) Holmes, Samuel Holmes, Kristin (William) Bowe, Davis (Emily) Mauk, Cory (Stephanie) Basler, Jackelyn (Eric) Hohn; great-grandchildren, August and Jonas Mauk, Alexandria Choma, Keely Basler, Dylan and Nolan Hohn. She is further survived by her siblings, Aurora Malapit, Geri Daniels, Nora Molena, Rita Yonamine, James Acasio, Joy DeMello, Mary Tabangcura, and Wilfred DeMello Jr.; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lawrence Lani, Jessie Acasio, Momi Acasio, Alice Kilo Lani DeMello, Carrie Marie Poaha.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Peter Episcopal Church in Sheboygan Falls on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 2:00pm. If unable to attend, a livestream of the service can be found on Arlyne’s obituary page at www.wenigfh.com.

Relatives and friends may greet the family at church from 11:00am until the time of service.

Memorials are appreciated in Arlyne’s name for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Shriners Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
