Arthur Koeser Jr.

April 13, 1927 — February 7, 2022

Sheboygan

Arthur Roland Koeser Jr., 94, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Woodland Manor in Sheboygan Falls.

Art was born on April 13, 1927, to Arthur and Alma (Winterberg) Koeser Sr. in Sheboygan. He attended Central High School before serving his country in the US Navy. On July 24, 1948, Art was united in marriage to Fern Hartmann at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. He was a dedicated husband and after she passed, he spent everyday at Greenlawn Memorial Park so much so that they had given him a key to open and close the park. Art dearly missed her for many years.

Art was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. He was a volunteer fire fighter with the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department for many years. Art and Fern enjoyed attending Bible Class together, taking trips to almost all 50 states, tending their large gardens, attending their grandson’s sporting events, and attending Packer games, holding season tickets since before Lambeau field was built and had even caught a playoff game ball with a fishing net. He loved going for long drives and grilling out every weekend with family while drinking Kingsbury. In his younger years, he played on a baseball team, enjoyed swimming in the Quarry, learned how to box from his father and continued boxing for years as exercise. He enjoyed his years spent with his dog, Nalababy. Art was always there for his family and loved them more than anything.

Art is survived by his daughter, Joann (Gary) Hinz; grandsons, Luke (Sheila) Schuh, Aaron (Elizabeth) Schuh, Justin (Carrie) Schuh; step-grandsons, Christopher (Shelly) Hinz and Jeremy (Jackie) Hinz; 14 great-grandchildren: Sam, Allie, Landon, Gracelyn, Austin, Anayah, Alexis, Lila, Vivian, Miles, Emma, Olivia, Lily, Judah; and 1 great-great-grandson, Hayden. He is further survived by his brothers-in-law, Rodney Van Engen, Ralph (Pearl) Hartmann; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Art was preceded in death by his wife, Fern; great-granddaughter, Amira Kromah; parents; sister, Beverly Van Engen; siblings-in-law, Melvin (Ruth) Hartmann and Mabel (Gilbert) Damrow; and dear friend, Jean.

A funeral service to celebrate Art’s life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Alan Kretschmar officiating. Interment will take place at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum. All are welcome to view a livestream of the funeral service on Art’s obituary page at wenig.live/ArtKoeser
