Audrey Jean Claerbaut, 86, of Oostburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center.
Audrey was born to Hilbert and Clara (DeBlaey) Huenink on January 29, 1940, in Cedar Grove. She graduated from Oostburg High School in 1958. On November 26, 1960, Audrey and Robert Claebaut were married at 1st Reformed Church in Oostburg.
Audrey was a member of Calvary OPC in Cedar Grove, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was a long-standing member of the Lakeshore Homemakers Club and sold Avon for many years. Audrey enjoyed flowers and plants, crocheting, and watching birds.
Audrey is survived by her daughter, Karen Claerbaut of Sheboygan; two sons, Kevin (Lauri) Claerbaut of Waldo and Curtis (Valerie) Claerbaut of Oostburg; four grandchildren, Callie (fiancé David DeBauche) Claerbaut, Benjamin (Elyzabeth) Claerbaut, Ethan Claerbaut, and Javier Claerbaut; step great-grandchild, Alexandra Johnson; siblings: Wayne Huenink, Philip (Linda) Huenink, Carol (Tony) Kaat, and Daniel (Nancy) Huenink; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Bruggink. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents; parents-in-law, Roland and Marion Claerbaut; brother-in-law Ronald Bruggink; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Muriel and LaMont TenHaken.
A funeral service to celebrate Audrey's life will be at Calvary OPC in Cedar Grove on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest next to Robert at Oostburg Cemetery. Relatives and friends may gather at church on Tuesday from 9:00am until the time of service.
A memorial fund is being established in Audrey's name for Oostburg Christian School.
