Barbara Ann Anderson

Barbara Ann Anderson (Veenendaal) passed away on October 11, 2026, following a 9-year journey with cancer. She was born on September 18, 1963 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to James Faser and Nancy Pohl. and was later adopted by Paul Veenendaal. She graduated from Sheboygan South High with the class of

During her junior year of high school, Barb gave her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and made it her mission to share His love with everyone she met. An avid track and tennis athlete, Barb used her love of Jesus to encourage her teammates, often praying before matches and races, and picturing him standing at the finish line.

Barb pursued higher education at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, earning a Bachelor of Social Work degree in 1985. Upon graduating, she moved to Chicago, where she ministered to inner city children and started her own camp programs. She gave her all to seeing those in need and considered it a joy to train others in the art of hospitality and serving the least of these.

On April 28, 1990, Barb married her best friend Todd Anderson, whom she had known since seventh grade. They started their life together in Carmel, Indiana. In 1998, they adopted their first child, Ariana, from Mexico, and were made a family of six when Barb became pregnant with triplets two years later.

Todd and Barb moved to Colorado in '04, where they spent the next twenty years raising their kids. For fourteen years, Barb dedicated her life to homeschooling her four children, giving them unique experiences, lessons, and fun through high school. Barb accepted each challenge as an opportunity to strengthen her children and herself. There was no recital, play, or sporting event she missed; being her kids' cheerleader was one of her favorite things to do. She fully supported her children's dreams, offering her advice, presence, and love. She taught her kids to love those whom others might reject or judge. She loved opening her home to anyone in need, creating a space where everyone, no matter the season they were in, felt safe to be vulnerable with her.

Barb adored being in God's creation, enjoying the majestic mountains of Colorado through skiing, hiking, and biking, or sitting in silence at her favorite bench at Kohler Andre State Park in Sheboygan. A common question she would often ask her kids was If I could spend time with anyone, who would it be? And the answer was unanimously, them. She gave one hundred percent of herself to her family, immediate and extended, spreading the love of Jesus to anyone around her.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Todd; her children, Ariana (Derek) Buenher, Katelyn, Claire, and Noah Anderson; Her mother, Nancy Veenendaal; and her brother Mark (Jennifer) Veenendaal, along with her niece and nephew Rayna and Kaden.

She was preceded in death by her fathers, James Esser and Paul Veenendaal.
