Carol Mae Prinsen, 87, of Cedar Grove, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 23, 2026.
Carol was born on May 13, 1938, to Walter and Edna (Bruggink) TenHaken in Sheboygan. She grew up in Gibbsville and graduated from Oostburg High School in 1956.
Carol was united in marriage to Roger Prinsen on March 15, 1958, at Gibbsville Reformed Church.
Her faith was a vital aspect of her life, and it was reflected in her lifelong church membership. Growing up a member of Gibbsville Church, she later joined First Reformed Church of Cedar Grove, where she shared her gift as an organist for 50+ years, serving countless families for funerals, weddings and Sunday worship. Carol also remained busy with her handiwork and artist touch wallpapering and painting the homes of friends and family for years alongside her sister, Marge. And though they never had a formal business per se, the list of homes they left their mark on is extensive! Carol considered her greatest life’s calling to be mother of her 4 beloved children, grandma to her 11 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren, and great grandma to her 9 great grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren.
Carol loved to play cards anytime she could. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to play and always loved winning. For over 40 years, Carol bowled on the Otte Bowling Team and golfed in a league at Town and Country. Carol and Roger, together went on numerous trips, too many to count.
Carol is survived by her husband of 68 years, Roger; her children; Mike (Natalie) Prinsen, Scott (Susan) Prinsen, Jacki (Brent) Voskuil, and daughter-in-law, Denise Prinsen. She also leaves behind grandchildren: Andrew (Sarah) Prinsen, John (Angie) Prinsen, Alicia (Charlie) Stollberg, Jessica (Paul) Voskuil, Kelsey Prinsen and Bradley (Samantha) Prinsen, Cole (Mina) Prinsen, Jacob (Gina) Prinsen, Jamie Prinsen (Gunnar), Ashley Voskuil and Matthew Voskuil; step grandchildren: Austin Klug, Conner (Katelyn) Klug, Zachary Klug; 9 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her son, Randy; parents; parents-in-law, Irwin and Delia (Navis); sister, Marge (Norman) Mulder; brother, Kenneth (Mary) TenHaken; sisters-in-law, Elvira (Harold) Klug and Arlene Soerens; and brother-in-law, Ernest (Marion) Prinsen.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, March 30, 2026, at First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. The family will receive visitors at the church on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 2:00-5:00pm and again on Monday from 10:00am until the time of service. She will be laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice or to the music ministry at First Reformed Church.
Wenig Funeral Home – Oostburg (920-564-2771) is assisting the family with arrangements. Please visit wenigfh.com for online condolences.
