David Kruis

David Kruis, 76, of Oostburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at his home.

Dave was born on December 10, 1946, in Sheboygan to Lester and LaVonne (DeZoute) Kruis. He graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1965. Dave went on to serve in the US Army in the military police. Dave was united in marriage to Kathy Klug on December 21, 1968, in Random Lake.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Dave worked as a Sheboygan Sheriff Deputy for 10 years and later a State Farm Insurance Agent for 35 years. Dave was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed going camping and golfing.

Dave is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathy; daughters, Lynn Shake (nee Kruis), Gail Armstrong (nee Kruis), and Sara Kruis; grandchildren, Jason Shake, Michael Becker, Shara Becker, Haley Becker, Ambrosia Kruis-Brown; siblings, Ron, Mary, and Maggie; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Kruis; son, Daniel Kruis; and grandson, Travis Shake.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 1:30pm.

Relatives and friends may greet the family from 11:30am until the time of service.

Memorials are appreciated in Dave’s name to American Red Cross, Veterans of Foreign Wars, or Mercy Ships.
