Dean James Voskuil

Dean James Voskuil, age 78 of Cedar Grove, found peace in God's Kingdom in the early morning hours of June 25, 2025. Dean was born on November 19, 1946 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the youngest of twin boys, to Allan and Irene (Dees) Voskuil.

Dean graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1964. He was an excellent athlete, lettering all four years in football, basketball, track and baseball, and would proudly share stories about those early games or meets. He was named Sheboygan County Athlete of the Year during high school. During his life he continued his love of sports by competing in many local running races.

Dean attended UW-LaCrosse where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. After serving his country in the US Army from 1968-1970, Dean returned to LaCrosse and received a Masters Degree in Student Personnel in 1972. After graduating, he was hired by Lakeshore Technical (Institute) College where he worked for 31 years as a Student Services Support Specialist. Following his retirement, Dean worked part-time at the Oostburg Ford Dealership and later at Cedar Grove-Belgium High School as the Commons Supervisor.

While working at LTC he met his future wife, Susan Parnitzke. Dean and Sue were married at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler on November 8, 1975 and would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this November. Dean and Sue raised three loving daughters and welcomed 7 grandchildren into their lives. Dean was always present at his daughters and grandchildren's activities until his health no longer allowed him to attend.

Dean was a Christian man who knew the Lord. He was a life-long member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and trustee.

Dean was well known for his Fox Den Man Cave and spent many hours there watching Packer and Brewer games with his various hunting dogs at his feet. Previously, the Man Cave was known as the Fox Den Roller Loft where he raised performing pigeons. Dean's passion was hunting - 1 Hunter, 8 Dogs, and 971 Grouse over the years. He believed that some of life's greatest moments were found in the woods, walking behind a good French Brittany. Sue and the girls spent many fall weekends accompanying Dean on his hunting trips north to Athelstane.

In his later years, Dean could be seen driving around the countryside still looking for pheasants and other wildlife while smoking his pipe and listening to Gaither Gospel Music or Tennessee Ernie Ford songs. He found joy in simple things: a well-trained dog, a well-told story or joke, and time spent with the people he loved.

Left to cherish Dean's memory are his wife, Susan; his daughters Kelly (Travis) Soerens, Brittany (Josh) Posthuma, and Cary Voskuil; grandchildren Jenna, Lucy, Easton and Harper Soerens and Ryan, Reese and Rayna Posthuma; brother Neil (Bonnie) Voskuil and twin brother Dale (Renee) Voskuil; father-in-law Robert Parnitzke; sister-in-law Lisa (John) Leadholm, Dean is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Called Home before Dean were his parents Allan and Irene, brothers Keith Voskuil and Lowell Voskuil, mother-in-law Karen Paritzke sister-in-law Judy Voskuil, nephew Daniel Voskuil, and his many loyal hunting dogs.

A celebration of Dean's life will be held at Calvary OPC on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 1:00pm. He will be laid to rest at Presbyterian Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family at church from 9:30am until 12:45pm.
