Delbert Huenink

Delbert Randall "Randy" Huenink, 90, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. Delbert was born on January 24, 1921 in Cedar Grove, son of Dirk W. and Emma Grace (Duenk) Huenink. On May 2, 1947 he married Eleanor J. Dana. Delbert served in the US Army during WW II building the ALCAN Highway in Alaska. Delbert was employed with Musebeck Shoe Company in Cedar Grove upon returning from WW II where he was supervisor and mechanic and worked there until his retirement. Delbert was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove, now known as First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon and trustee. He enjoyed bowling, time at his cottage and fishing at Lake Winnebago with family and friends. Delbert was a handyman that could fix anything and was an electrician who wired many homes over the years. He also built a number of homes over the years and was always there to help his family with whatever needed to be done. Delbert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eleanor; one daughter, Jane (Jeff) Bley of Random Lake; three sons, Dale (Carol) Huenink of Oostburg, Paul (Jackie) Huenink of Cedar Grove and Jan (Sandy) Huenink of Oostburg; ten grandchildren, Stephanie (John) Balnaitis, Mitchell (Kelly) Huenink, Tracy (Jason) Schubert, Aaron Nett, Andrew (Stephanie) Huenink, Angela (Jason) Ross, Douglas and Carla Huenink, Nicole and Jessica Bley; six great-grandchildren, Charleigh and Korben Huenink, Alyssa and Sierra Schubert, Grace Huenink and Caleb Ross; two sisters, Jerry (Floyd) Ten Pas of Oostburg and Joan Lammers of Oostburg; sister-in-law, Margaret Meerdink; brother-in-law, Gordon (Charlene) Dana of Cedar Grove and many nieces and nephews. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Ethel (Le Roy) DeSmith and Lois (Roger) Meeusen, two brothers LeRoy (Helen) Huenink and Arvin (Marion) Huenink, brothers-in-law, Phil Lammers, Marvin Meerdink and Ralph Dana. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 10:30 am at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove with the Rev. David Van Dixhorn officiating. Interment will take place in Cedar Grove Cemetery with military honors. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg from 4:30 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday and also at the church on Thursday from 9:30 until the time of the service at 10:30 am. A memorial fund has been established in Delbert's name for VNA Hospice, the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and First Evangelical Presbyterian Chruch. Delbert's family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the VNA Hospice, the Sharon S. Richardson Community Home Hospice and Embrace Care Management for the wonderful care they provided to Delbert and his family.
