Delmar Hoopman

December 7, 1923 — January 5, 2021

Delmar Gerald Hoopman, formerly of rural Waldo and Plymouth, passed away at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the age of 97. Delmar was born on December 7, 1923, in the Town of Lyndon to Theodore and Frances (Huibregtse) Hoopman. Delmar farmed in the Town of Lyndon 20 plus years after which he worked at Hydraulic Tools of Sheboygan, his favorite and longest employment. He retired in 1988 from Allen Edmonds Shoe Company. He was united in marriage to Clara Wilterdink at Gibbsville Reformed Church on September 3, 1947. They were blessed with 59 years together. He was a faithful member of Hingham Reformed Church during his adult life and had a personal relationship with God His Creator and Jesus Our Savior. Delmar also volunteered on the Hingham Cemetery Association.  In his earlier years, Delmar enjoyed going on road trip vacations with his family being able to visit most of the western and southern states. Delmar enjoyed going to dances at Laacks Hall and other venues. In his retirement, he kept busy helping family and friends with fix up projects. He also enjoyed polka bands and keeping up on current events. Delmar is survived by his children, Philip (Dolores) Hoopman of Neshkoro, WI, Roger Hoopman of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Marcia (John) DeGrothy of Sussex, WI; grandson, Timothy (Agad) Hoopman; granddaughters, Ann Arndt, Rachel (Jake) and Kelly (Domenic) DeGrothy; great-grandchildren, Monica and Justin Arndt; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Delmar was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Hoopman; infant son, Ivan Hoopman; parents, Theodore and Frances Hoopman; infant brother, Gordon Hoopman; parents-in-law, Edward and Bertha Wilterdink; and many siblings-in-law.  A private funeral service to celebrate Delmar's life will be held. All are welcome to join via livestream by joining www.wenig.live/delmarhoopman . A burial will take place at Hingham Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family at Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.  Memorials are appreciated to Hingham Church or a charity of your choice. Family would like to extend a special thank you to Nurse Brenda and all the staff at Rocky Knoll HCC for the excellent care given to Delmar. Also, heartfelt gratitude to Nurse Amber and Chaplain Steve of Compassus Hospice.
