Delores Kappers

Delores Gertrude Kappers, 93, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Pine Haven Christian Communities - Giddings Avenue, Sheboygan Falls. Delores was born on August 25, 1927, in Sheboygan to Chester and Agnes (TenPas) Hyink. She was a graduate of Cedar Grove High School in 1945.  On November 15, 1946, Delores married Eugene Kappers at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. Eugene preceded her in death on February 16, 2001. They farmed together until they moved to Oostburg to retire together. Delores also delivered the Sheboygan Press for several years and worked at Pine Haven. She was a charter member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove and a member of the Dorcas Society.  Delores loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was always ready to share her pictures. Delores and Eugene were foster parents for several years. She volunteered at both Pine Haven Corner Store in Sheboygan Falls and at the Good As New Shop in Cedar Grove. She was active in Campus Life, an active member of several Homemakers groups, and loved being a part of The Old Timers Pony Club. She loved to crochet and made beautiful crocheted Christmas Tree skirts for her family, as well as many other treasured items for all of us. She loved going on bus trips and out to dinner with friends and family. In the past several years, she loved to color, do word searches, and copy recipes to share with her family. She treasured all her special times with (the girls) her sisters. She treasured her daily phone calls with her sister Rodell, until she could no longer use a telephone. Delores is survived by her two sons, Mark (Jean) Kappers of Sheboygan Falls, Dennis (Sheila) Kappers of Cedar Grove; grandchildren: Corey (Jennifer) Kappers, Carrie (Matthew) Nachtwey, Christy (Adam) Torrison, Jerrod (Brianna) Kappers, Sarah (Rafael) Magana; great-grandchildren, Natalee, McKenzie, and Brooklyn Nachtwey, Ellie and Landen Torrison, Abigail and Kylah Kappers, Paige and William Kappers, Madison and baby girl on the way Magana. She is further survived by her sisters, Charlene Dana of Cedar Grove, LaFayne Judson of Illinois, Rodell Riemersma of Oshkosh; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; parents, Chester and Agnes Hyink; parents-in-law, William and Alydia Kappers; stepmother, Alva (Irwin) Hyink; sisters, Iris (Donald) Rauwerdink, Frances (Earl) Meinen; brothers-in-law, Gordon Dana, Irving Judson, Andrew Riemersma, Harold (Ruby) Kappers; sisters-in-law, Alda (Henry) Wynveen, Jeanette (Howard) TeLindert. A funeral service to celebrate Delores's life will be held on Saturday, January 30th, at Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove at 2:30 pm with Rev. Delores will be laid to rest with Eugene at Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland.  Relatives and friends may greet the family at Calvary OPC in Cedar Grove on Saturday, from 1:30 until the time of service at 2:30 pm.  A memorial fund is being established in her name for Pine Haven Christian Communities, Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, and Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church. The family would like to express their thanks to Pine Haven Christian Communities for their care, Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all their care for Delores and support for the family, and the members of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church for their cards, visits, and prayers. A special thank you to Aunt Rodell for calling Delores every day and sending her little gifts.
