Dennis Jay Schilling

Dennis Jay Schilling passed away peacefully at home on March 7, 2024, from lymphoma. 

He was born August 8, 1953, to Donald Schilling and Clarice Schoenfeld Schilling Rose in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The summer of 1971 he was born again when accepting the offer of eternal forgiveness of his sin through the sacrifice of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  

Dennis attended the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. He was employed by Aldrich Chemical Company for 42 years as a research and development chemist, retiring in 2021. 

On June 9, 1979, he married Jill Edinger. Together they raised eight children in rural Gibbsville, Wisconsin. Dennis gardened, biked and ran, and taught homeschool science classes and Adult Bible Fellowship. He loved his Savior, his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. 

Dennis is survived by his wife, Jill, and his children Julia Payne, Benjamin (Rebekah) Schilling, Daniel (Katherine) Schilling, Maria (Eric) Boeckers, Johanna (Adam) Brahm, Stephen Schilling, Susanna (Kurt) Boeckers, John Schilling and twenty grandchildren.  He is also survived by his special uncle Lyle Schoenfeld, his siblings Gary (Jody) Schilling, Steven Schilling, Brian (Teresa) Thimmig, Carrie (Thomas) Lisch and his sisters-in-law Nancy (Richard) Crombie and Karen (William) Pickering.  

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Augusta May Schilling.  

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg at 1:00pm. A livestream of the funeral can be found on Dennis’s obituary page at wenigfh.com. He will be laid to rest at Gibbsville Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may greet the family at the funeral home from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm.
