Erwin Claussen

March 6, 1941 — December 11, 2020

Erwin John Claussen, 79, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020, at his home.

Erwin was born on March 6, 1941, in the Town of Wilson, son of Arthur and Dena (TenPas) Claussen.  He attended Cedar Grove Schools.  On June 3, 1961, he married Shirley Ann Winkelhorst at Gibbsville Reformed Church.  Erwin was an Electric Melt Furnace Operator with Willman Industries in Cedar Grove from 1961 to 2004 and worked at Ongna Wood Products in Sheboygan Falls from 2004 until his retirement in 2016.

Erwin was a member of First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove.  He was also a member of Local 261 and served as Cedar Grove Village President for 14 years.  Erwin was active with Holland Festival from 1965 to 2006.Erwin enjoyed the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and local sports teams.

Erwin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley; his three daughters, Dawn Claussen of Cedar Grove, Lisa Claussen of Grafton, and Tanya (Dr. Jeffrey) Garside of San Jose, CA; three grandchildren, Jean-Luc James, Amanda Laurel (fiancé Mark Nelson), and Kathryn Ann Garside; two sisters, Caroline Staaben of Sheboygan and Mary Ann (Darrell) Anderson of Plymouth; three sisters-in-law, Diane Claussen of Sheboygan Falls, Edith TenDolle, and Harriet Rauwerdink of Oostburg; one brother-in-law, Gary (Julianne) Winkelhorst of Port Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Erwin was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Robert, James, and David Claussen, one sister, Jane Claussen, stepfather, Donald DeBlaey; a sister-in-law, LaVerne (Donald) Voesch; and three brothers-in-law, Michael Staaben, Carl TenDolle, and Ronald Rauwerdink.

A private memorial service will be held. All are welcome to join via livestream by visiting wenig.live/ErwinClaussen .

Family and friends are welcome to greet the family at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 2:00 until 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Erwin’s name for the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and Cedar Grove First Responders.
