Gerald E. Schwinn, 75, of 1073 Highland Dr., Kohler, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at St. Nicholas Hospital, following a short illness. He was born October 13, 1930 in the Town of Herman, the son of the late Edward and Loretta (Gries) Schwinn. Gerald was a 1949 graduate of Howards Grove High School. On October 21, 1950, Gerald married Twilite Pippert in Spring Valley. He later married Jola Ann (Anhalt) Kolb in Sheboygan on November 15, 1975. Gerald worked for 38 years at Kohler Co., as a supervisor in the Pottery Dept., retiring in 1993. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Kohler where he was a council member and financial secretary. Gerald was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club; formerly an active and charter member of the Howards Grove Lions Club, where he held most offices, was Lion of the Year, and received the Melvin Jones Award. Gerald enjoyed baseball, watching his grandchildren play sports, was a Little League coach; enjoyed Sr. Dartball, bowling, gardening, ice fishing, cards, dominoes and volunteer work. Survivors include his wife, Jola; two daughters, Ramona (Larry) Ramey of Cleveland, Suzanne (David) Majerus of Sheboygan Falls; three sons, Keith (Drema) Schwinn of Cleveland, VA; Neil (Sharon) Schwinn of Kiel, Jeffrey (Kathleen) Schwinn of Howards Grove; 11 grandchildren, Devin and Sam Ramey, Joe and Jesse Majerus, Julie (Rick) Artrip, David (Renee) Bayens, Kristy (friend Ben) Schwinn, Jake Schwinn, Isaiah, Abrahm and Joshua Schwinn; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Rosemary (friend Roger Mueller) Bushman of Sheboygan Falls, Arlene (Terry) Held of Kiel; three brothers, Charles (Marie) Schwinn of Howards Grove, James (Julie) Schwinn of Sheboygan, Leonard (Bergetta) Schwinn of Howards Grove; one step-daughter, Lori Isom of Spartanburg, SC; two stepsons, Steven (Alice) Kolb of De Pere, Michael (Marcia) Kolb of Cleveland; seven step grandchildren, Sarah (Adam) Janssen, Rachel and Matt Kolb, Adam and Jordan Kolb, John Michael and Nicholas Isom. He was preceded in death by a step daughter, Vicki Lynn Kolb. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 14, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls, with the Rev. Thomas Schroeder, officiating. Entombment will take place at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in the Town of Sheboygan. Friends may greet the family at the Wenig Funeral Home on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services. A memorial fund will be established in his name for Grace UCC. The family wishes to thank the staff of the 4th floor at St. Nicholas Hospital, the Physical Therapy Dept., Dr. Marsho and Dr. Gentine for the wonderful care given to Gerald.
