M. Glen Dulmes

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our husband and father, Milton Glen Dulmes, age 95, of Sheboygan Falls on July 2, 2023.

Glen was born on May 12, 1928, in Sheboygan to Chester and Esther Dulmes and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1946.

Glen married Cora Van Stelle in June of 1950. Together they raised three children: David, Curtis, and Joy. Glen was a devoted husband and father and took the family on many trips: to the 1967 World’s Fair in Montreal, Canada, to New York City, to Florida, and many camping adventures. One of his favorite spots was Terry Andrae State Park where the family would pitch a three-room army tent and stay for a month at a time, with Glen “commuting” from work during the week. A long-time Sheboygan YMCA member, Glen took the family there every week for swimming and gym activities.

Glen was a hard-working man, employed for many decades at Richardson Brothers Furniture Company in Sheboygan Falls. He began there soon after high school, working his way up to Company Foreman in charge of manufacturing, and eventually to Company President until his retirement in 1989. Glen was known as a caring and competent manager who was well-respected by both the company and his co-workers.

On July 4, 1991, Cora preceded Glen in death. Later that fall, Glen met Mary (Reese) Fuhrman when they sat next to each other at a symphony chorus concert and found many common interests. They married on September 26, 1992. Over the next 30 years, Glen and Mary traveled frequently, with Austria and Germany being among their favorite places. Together they loved adventuring, preferring to explore and meet the locals, and finding meals and lodging along the way. They also created many memories in Naples, Florida, where “walking, walking, walking” was their top activity.

Glen served in the Sheboygan National Guard and was President of the American Furniture Association: Furniture Design and Manufacturing Division from 1988-1989. He and Mary were also long-time members of People to People in Sheboygan. He even earned his pilot license for flying a single engine airplane.

Glen was one of those special people who always looked at the bright side of life: his glass was always three quarters full of positivity. His sense of humor was shared with friends and family, and he was a creative bed-time storyteller for the kids with his “Willa Meena Katina” adventures. He was a good father and a loving husband. We were fortunate to have him grace our lives with his dedicated work ethic and positive outlook. He will be deeply missed.

Glen is survived by his wife; Mary, sons, David and Curtis; daughter, Joy; Granddaughter, Melissa Harrington; and great-granddaughters, Hailey and Ava.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their kind and compassionate care that was given to Glen- especially to Jennifer and Mary Ann for their help and support.

A funeral service to honor Glen’s life will take place on Friday, July 7, 2023, at the First Reformed Church of Sheboygan Falls at 11am. A visitation will take place at church from 9:30am until the time of service at 11am. Burial will conclude at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
