Glen Markus, a former volunteer for the town of Sheboygan Falls Fire Department and Economics teacher at local colleges, passed away early January 14, 2021 at Aurora Medical Center Grafton. He was 72 years old. Glen was born May 23, 1948 in Sheboygan Falls to Christ and Ann Markus. He graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1966. He went on to earn an Associates from LTC in accounting in 1968, a BA in Business Administration from UW Whitewater in 1972, and an MA in Economics from UW Oshkosh in 1975.On January 5, 1980 he was united in marriage with Allison Holte in Northfield, MN.A lifelong educator, Glen taught economics at UW-Sheboygan, Lakeland College and Lakeshore Tech. He also taught fire science at Moraine Park Tech, and later sold firefighting equipment at Oshkosh Fire and Police. He proudly served on the Sheboygan County Board for three terms.An avid lover of trains, Glen passionately knew anything and everything about them, and enjoyed collecting HO, watching virtual videos and taking train rides. He also enjoyed woodworking, fixing things and feeding the wildlife around his yard. Glen is survived by Allison, his wife of 40 years, and their son Christopher, both of Sheboygan Falls. He is further survived by sisters: Marlene (Jim) Kirby of AZ and Bonnie Markus of Sheboygan Falls, brother-in-law Carlton Holte, nieces and nephews: Douglas (Aimee) Orem, Danny (Heidi) Orem, Dean (Meghan) Orem, Lyn Maner, Scott (Choi) Maner and Maren (Jason) Heise, great nieces- and nephews, other relatives and friends.Due to Covid-19, a memorial service will be held at a later date. The Wenig Funeral Home - Sheboygan Falls (920-467-3431) is honored to serve the family.
