Harlan Jay Walvoort, 78, of Cedar Grove, formerly of Wabeno, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Pine Haven Christian Communities- Covenant Home.Harlan "Buzzy" was born on June 23, 1940, in Sheboygan, WI to Harold and Mildred (Meerdink) Walvoort. He attended Cedar Grove High School.On July 22, 1989, Buzzy married Mary Stanul. Mary preceded Harlan in death in 2016. Buzzy worked as an over the road truck driver for many years and also ran the Homestead restaurant in Cedar Grove. He then moved up to northern Wisconsin where he and his wife eventually purchased and operated the Safari Cafe in Wabeno. Buzzy enjoyed cooking, listening to oldies music, and going to the casino in Carter. Buzzy is survived by his two daughters, LuAnn Wilke, and Sherry (Doug) Heinecke; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Cory) Bonsante, April (Kevin) Stapelkamp, Kristin (Tim) Peaine, Daniel Weber, Breanne (John) Carr Jr., Stephanie (Andrew) Huenink, Samantha Heinecke, and Bruce Walker; 13 great-grandchildren; and a dear family friend, James Walker. Buzzy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Walvoort; parents, Harold & Mildred Walvoort; granddaughter, Cali Weber; a sister, Marion Heinen; and a brother, Glenn Walvoort.A memorial service to celebrate Buzzy's life will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018, at 6:00 pm at Wenig Funeral Homes in Oostburg with Pastor Paul Pfeffer officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family at Wenig Funeral Homes in Oostburg on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 4:00 p.m until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. A memorial fund is being established in his name for Pine Haven Christian Communities and Sharon S.
