Harold C. Voskuil, 92, of N3002 Highway 32, Oostburg, died peacefully with his wife at his side on Saturday afternoon, January 2, 2010 at Meadowview Manor in Sheboygan where he had resided for the past 1 ½ years. Harold was born on October 8, 1917 in the Town of Lima, the son of the late Henry and Alice (Wilterdink) Voskuil. He attended Banner School in the Town of Lima and Waldo High School. On June 21, 1939 Harold married Dorothy Ongna in the Town of Lima. They observed 70 years of marriage. Harold was a dairy farmer in the Town of Lima for many years. He also worked at Ongna Wood Products and served as groundskeeper at the Gibbsville Reformed Church. Harold was a member of the Gibbsville Reformed Church where he served as deacon, elder, and sang in the choir, male quartet, mixed quartet, various duet groups, and the Pine Haven Men's Chorus. He was a charter member of the Old Timers Pony Club and served on the school board for the Horace Mann School. He enjoyed horses, woodworking and singing. Harold is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Angeline (David) Hoftiezer and Lynn (Larry) Riemes, both of Gibbsville; four sons, Wendel (Diane) of Oostburg, Rev. Roger (Kathy) of Sioux Center, Iowa, Fred (Kathy) of Oostburg, and Lee (Mary) Voskuil of Gibbsville; fifteen grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Alvera Ongna of Pine Haven Christian Home and Marge Voskuil of Countryside Manor. He was preceded by two sisters, Jenevieve (Edward Heinen and Edward TenHaken) and Lucille (Warren) Tenpas; one brother, Floyd Voskuil; and two brothers-in-law, Harvey and Gordon (Sarah) Ongna. A celebration of Harold's life will take place at the funeral service to be held at the Gibbsville Reformed Church at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 with the Rev. Roger Voskuil and Rev. Luke Schouten officiating. A family service will precede in the choir room at 10:15 am. Burial will take place at the Hingham Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Tuesday from 4-8 pm, and on Wednesday, at church, from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am.
