Harriet R. Tershner, of Kohler, passed away at her daughter’s home in Sheboygan Falls on Friday, April 15, 2022 surrounded by family. She was 80 years old.
Harriet was born August 9, 1941 in Sheboygan, the son of Louis and Anita (nee Roehrborn) Albrecht. She attended school in Sheboygan, graduating from Central High School in 1959.
On May 5, 1962, Harriet was united in marriage with James A. Tershner. He preceded her in death in 2018.
Harriet worked for Murphy’s in Sheboygan from the time it opened, until their closure in the mid 1980’s. She then went on to work at Kohler Police Department as a crossing guard from 1985-2012. She also cleaned at Bethany Lutheran Church for 18 years.
Harriet was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, was a choir member, helped with accounting, and did lawn care. She belonged to the Kohler Camping club, and loved camping trips both with the club and to the Reservation. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and above all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by her family and friends as kind, caring and passionate.
Harriet is survived by two sons, David (Diane) Tershner, and John (Laura) Tershner; one daughter, Lori (Joe) Wychesit; eight grandchildren, Patrick Wychesit, Mallory (Adam) Wrenn, Joey (Jeanelle) Wychesit, Katie (special friend Sean) Wychesit, Ashleigh (special friend Matt) Wychesit, Brandy Tershner, Becca (fiancé Nick Bogart) Tershner, and Cody Tershner; 2 step-granddaughters: Abigail and Monica Schnicke; fourteen great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kayden, Jayelle, Chloe, Marayah, Mylo, Emma, Riley, Elijah, Wyatt, Vera, Mia, Mavis and Kaili; brothers Louis Albrecht and Bob (Janis) Albrecht; sister Irene Yurk; sister-in-law Barb Stroshein, brother-in-law Carl Nelson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband James, her parents, parents-in-laws Edwards and Viola Tershner, brother Eugene Albrecht.
A funeral service to celebrate Harriet’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 11:00AM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler with Rev. Robert Steele officiating. A burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Kohler.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler on Wednesday from 9:00AM-11:00AM.
A memorial fund is being established in Harriet's name for VVMI (Vernacular Video Mission International) and Bethany Lutheran Church.
