Helen Mary Maurer

Helen Maurer, age 94, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, of Sheboygan Falls, WI went home to be with her Lord on Monday, August 31, 2026.

Helen was born in Sheboygan, WI on February 12, 1932, the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Reding Friedrichsmeier. She learned English and went on to attend St. Clement Catholic grade school and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School, Class of 1950.

On May 17, 1952 she married Kenneth Maurer at St. Clement Catholic Church, Sheboygan, WI. They celebrated their 72nd anniversary in 2024. Together they raised three wonderful children; Cheryl, Scotty and Mark.

After her high school graduation, she was employed at the Sheboygan Letter Bureau, Citizens State Bank and Dixie Division Headquarters Co. at Camp Atterbury, IN. Helen was a homemaker and at-home mother, and was involved in her children's activities at school as well as a playground volunteer for many years. In addition, she was a Cub Scout den mother and active in Campfire Girls. Her children were her priority. She loved having sleepovers with her grandchildren, reading, watching movies, eating popcorn and staying up late. She later attended Lakeshore Technical Institute earning her CNA certification. She was employed at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home for 16 years. The residents of Sunny Ridge were close to her heart; therefore after her retirement she continued as a volunteer there for many years.

Helen enjoyed flower gardening and embroidery, as well as traveling with Ken world wide. She was also an avid bird watcher in her backyard woods feeding and giving them fresh water daily. She was a collector of porcelain dolls and later attended classes learning the art of making them. Her home was adorned with many beautiful porcelain dolls she made and was very proud of them. Later in life, Helen took up another hobby of acrylic painting on canvas with beautiful results which adorned her home and provided many gifts.

She was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls and the former Christian Mothers Society. She had been a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Elizabeth Ann Seton of Kohler, and former Sheboygan Falls Women's Club - a friendship club that was established shortly after high school of which she was an active member until 2024. Helen was a devout Christian and believed in the power of prayer, and to always remember to give thanks and to be forgiving.

Survivors include her daughter Cheryl (Mark) Majcen, Appleton; two sons, Scotty (Chrissy Klug) Maurer, Adell and Mark (Laura Docter) Maurer, Manitowoc. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Sarah Painton, Ryan (Nina) Majcen, Nicole Maurer (special friend David Laack), Adam (Alex) Maurer, Carly (Robby) Krueger, Isobel Maja Dupor (Petar Oklobdzija), Maxfield Docter Maurer; and seven great grandchildren, Pierce, Cal and Drake Painton, Addison and Evelyn Majcen, and Shane and Cora Krueger. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and numerous cousins as well as many dear and cherished friends. Among those friends are Lois Ward Landgraf, a grade school through high school friend of which they shared many happy memories growing up; and Germaine Tesovnick of which she and Helen were the last two members of the friendship club in 2024. They met every month faithfully.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Ken, her parents William and Elizabeth, her in-laws Herman and Hildegard, her maternal grandparents Nicholas and Helena (Netzer) Reding, paternal grandparents Karl and Willamina Friedrichsmeier, sisters-in-law Mary Jane (Rick) Martin, Kathleen (Billy) Black and a special cousin, Paul Friedrichsmeier with whom she spent many hours together as his help mate.

She wishes to be remembered as a kind and loving mother and grandmother. Being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker was the highlight of her journey.

To my children: It was a blessing that God gave you to me to raise and watch you grow into wonderful adults. When you say your daily prayers always remember to give thanks to the Lord and keep me close in heart and mind. To my wonderful husband: It was a wonderful journey through life with you. You were my loving husband and friend. Until we meet again.

The Lord heals us in at least two ways - makes us better or takes us home.

No formal visitation will be held before the memorial mass for Helen at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10:00am with Father Michael Lawinger officiating.
