Hermi B. Krueger, 80, passed away Sunday morning, January 25, 2026, at Cedar Grove Gardens II. She spent many years living in Appleton, Greenville, and Neenah before moving to Cedar Grove.
Hermi was born September 27, 1945, at Camp Haid in Austria to Johann and Elisabeth (Lorenz) Strublic. In 1956, her family made the nine-day journey across the Atlantic Ocean to the United States, where they settled in Milwaukee. The journey her refugee family endured before and after her birth shaped her love for the United States and much of her identity.
On April 10, 1976, Hermi was united in marriage to her beloved husband Dale Krueger for almost 50 years. She is survived by her three children from her first marriage: Brian and his wife Laura Nason of Freedom, WI and their children Brett, Ryn, Erick, and Anna; David and his wife Connie Nason of Oconomowoc, WI and their children Will and Cal; Julie (Nason) Pojar and her significant other Dean Nelson of Hingham, WI and her children Jacqueline and Benjamin; brother John and his wife Jeanne Strublic of Wautoma, WI; brother-in-law, Wayne and his wife Sue Krueger of Wausau, WI; along with nieces and nephews. She found joy in her grandchildren above all else.
Hermi was a cherished member of Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Greenville, WI, where her presence left a lasting impression on all who knew her. An avid photographer and painter, she captured the beauty of the world through her lens and brush, always finding inspiration in nature. Her love for birds and flowers, in particular, reflected her vibrant spirit. She shared her passion with those around her, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, kindness, love of nature, and devotion to her faith. She was a long time employee of Kimberly Clark and took pride in her work. Hermi also loved to travel and see the world around her.
Private family services will be held. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Hermi’s name to The Ridges Sanctuary, a place she spent many hours painting and enjoying the trilliums in bloom, and Open Door Bird Sanctuary which supports her love of nature and birds. Both are in Door County, WI.
Special thanks to Cedar Grove Gardens II and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all the loving care she received. She was blessed to have you all caring for her.
