Isabelle Emily De Zwarte, 98, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Pine Haven Christian Communities – Giddings Avenue Campus.
Izzy was born to Clarence and Esther (Witzel) Hickenbotham on March 29, 1924 in Winooski, Wisconsin. She graduated from Plymouth High School. Izzy was united in marriage to John De Zwarte on June 19, 1946 St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plymouth.
Izzy was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. She was also very involved member of Madison Homemaker’s Group, Dance Club, and Snowmobile Club. She enjoyed being outside, gardening, hiking in the woods, and trips to the family cabin in Argonne. Izzy was a talented cook, knitter and enjoyed needlepoint and canning. She loved playing cards, animals, and going dancing. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and friends. When anyone mentioned names of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren, she would light up and smile with unconditional love. She will be dearly missed.
Izzy is survived by her daughters, Gail (Wade) Kleinhans of Sheboygan Falls, Faye Calco of Sheboygan, Kim (Joseph) Gary of Cross Plains, Dawn (Chris) Ceder of Appleton; seven grandchildren, Clark (Sara) Kleinhans, Leslie (Jordan) Blad, Joy (Chad) Kohlman, Jamar (Maya) Gary, Jarel (Jessica) Gary, Keahn Gary, and Alexandra (Maxwell) Calco; 13 great-grandchildren, Elsa, Lucia, Thomas, Magnus, Carisa, Kaylee, Isaac, Cora, Sadie, Lucius, Zamara, Sevi, and Jaxis; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in passing by her husband John, grandsons, Keegan Gary and Barry Kleinhans, parents, and her sisters, Doris Dassow and Mae Hornick.
A funeral service to celebrate Izzy’s life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, John at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Relatives and friends may greet the family from 9:30am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
Memorials are appreciated in Izzy’s name to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
