Ivan Jay DeMaster

Ivan DeMaster, with assurance of eternal life through his faith in Jesus, departed this life for glory on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Ivan was born to Earl and Antoinette (LeMahieu) DeMaster on May 16, 1937, in Sheboygan, WI. He graduated from Oostburg High School before continuing on to Calvin College and Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia.

On December 28, 1960, Ivan was united in marriage to Carla Debbink at Gibbsville Reformed Church.

He ministered as a pastor for 43 years at Blue Bell OPC in Center Square, PA, Westminster OPC in Westchester, IL, Bethel OPC in Lauderhill, FL, and Grace OPC in Sheboygan, WI.

Ivan was involved in Jail Ministry, Men’s Bible Study, and training pastors in Malawi. He served as church youth camp director for many years.

Ivan enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching, and watching Cubs baseball. Together, Ivan and Carla loved traveling to many places, including all over Europe, Jamaica, Malawi, and visiting 49 states. He was known to be very practical, disciplined, compassionate, a peacemaker, and only had two jokes.

Ivan is survived by his wife, Carla; daughters: Pamela (Theodore) Himebook, Carol (Mark) Chupp, Ruth (Thomas) VanDerPuy; son, Jonathan (Jenniffer) DeMaster; grandchildren: Carla Rae (Michael) Scholten, Theodore Himebook Jr., Daniel (Grace) Himebook, Rachel Himebook, Megan (Ben) Gravelle, Alan Chupp, Katy (Luke) Jorittsma, Lanae (Daniel) Symanzik, Aleksandr VanDerPuy, Calvin VanDerPuy, and Amity VanDerPuy; 6 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers: Eugene (Barbara) DeMaster, Robert (Anna) DeMaster, John (Kathryn) DeMaster; sister-in-law, Evangeline DeMaster.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and Daniel DeMaster; and sister-in-law, Ruth Ann DeMaster.

A funeral service to celebrate God, who worked in and throughout Ivan’s life, will be held at Grace OPC in Sheboygan on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00am. Visitation will take place at church from 9:00am until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
