James Kirkwood Hoganson

James K. Hoganson, of Sheboygan, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. He was 72 years old.

James was born April 8, 1953, the son of Donald Kirkwood and Jacqueline Marie (Scanlan) Hoganson. He graduated from Homestead High School in 1971. He went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force from 1976-1980.

A 35-year employee of Paper Box & Specialty Company, James worked as a journeyman millwright.

A skilled pool player, James was a longtime member of the Sheboygan Pool League and participated at many state and national tournaments.

An outdoorsman, James loved nature, especially time spent at their campground and could often be found tinkering around. He jumped headfirst into whatever adventure or hobby interested him, and was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need.

James is survived by his wife Deb and their children, Kelly Hoganson and Gregory (Rachel Hopp) Hoganson; beloved dogs Elliott and Jae Jae; furry grandbabies Ellie May, Jackson and Wilbur, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters: Carol Bloemer and Linda Hoganson.

A Celebration of James’s life with military honors will be held at his family campground on Old Park Road in Sheboygan on Friday, July 3, 2026, beginning at 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
