James Allen LeMahieu, 83, of Oostburg, went to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Jim was born on April 15, 1941, to Lewis and Lenore (VanEss) LeMahieu in Sheboygan. He graduated from Oostburg High School in 1959 and went on to serve in the US Army National Guard until 1964. Jim attended Sheboygan Vocational School for 4 years and worked as a tool and die maker for 41 years at Tecumseh Die Cast. After retirement, he worked part time for Ferrell Gas and as a bank courier for Oostburg State Bank.
Jim was united in marriage to Donna TenHaken on June 2, 1962, in Oostburg.
Jim was a lifelong member of Bethel OPC in Oostburg, where he served as elder, deacon, trustee, and usher. Jim and Donna enjoyed spending time visiting church members who were sick and shut ins. He was also involved in Men’s Society, sang in the men’s chorus, and served as the president of the Oostburg Christian and Sheboygan County Christian High School Boards. Jim was a part of the Oostburg Ambulance for 14 years and the Oostburg Fire Department. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, wood working, reading, and yard work. At the age of 72, he was proud to have jumped out of an airplane.
Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna; daughter, Lynn (Shane) Shaarda of Charleston, SC; sons, Scott (Dawn) LeMahieu of Oostburg, Brian (Susan) LeMahieu of Sheboygan, Kevin (Michelle) LeMahieu of Oostburg; grandchildren, Nicholas (Holly), Zachary (fiancé Helene), and Joshua Shaarda, Ashley Lane and Justin (Jessica) LeMahieu, Derrek (Laura) and Marcus (Christina) LeMahieu, and Kaitlyn (Seth) Baxter and Brandon LeMahieu; great-grandchildren, Kate and Lindsey LeMahieu, Layla Lane, Aria Baxter and Baby LeMahieu on the way. He is further survived by his siblings, Mary Lou (William) Shaw, Doris (Arvin) Meerdink, Faye (Larry) TenHaken, Kay (Robert) Wilterdink; sister-in-law, Rosemary LeMahieu; brother-in-law, Roger TenHaken; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Eugene and Margaret TenHaken; brother, Dan LeMahieu; and infant sister, Carol LeMahieu.
A funeral service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at Bethel OPC on Monday, September 2, 2024, at 11:00am. A livestream of the service can be found by visiting wenig.live/JimLeMahieu. He will be laid to rest at Oostburg Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday, September 1, at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg from 2:00-5:00pm and again at church on Monday from 9:30am until the time of service.
