James R. Roerdink, 82, of Oostburg, passed away Sunday morning, March 1, 2026, at Songbird Pond Assisted Living.
James was born April 21, 1943, in Sheboygan, the son of Henry and Eleanor (LeMahieu) Roerdink. He graduated from Oostburg High School in 1961. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army.
On January 8, 1966, he was united in marriage with Renee Hesslink in Cedar Grove. The couple shared 60 years of marriage, making countless memories as they raised their family
From 1965-2006, James worked as a Stock Control Clerk at Kohler Company.
A long-time member of Bethel OPC, James was a talented musician who sang with the church choir and Men of Harmony. He enjoyed camping, bowling, and going up north fishing.
James is survived by his wife, Renee and their children: Dirk (Sherri) Roerdink, Daniel (Lisa) Roerdink, Jodi (Michael) Kruse, and Jennell (Joseph) Eissner; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers Wayne (Char) and Phil (Karen) Roerdink; brother-in-law Jay (Bonnie) Hesslink; sisters-in-law Gloria (Harlan) Portschy and Beverly Haartman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, Jacob; infant great-grandchild; parents; parents-in-law, Clayton and Vera Hesslink; and brother-in-law, Ronald Haartman.
Funeral Services will be held at Bethel OPC on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 1:00pm. A livestream of the service can be viewed by visiting wenig.live/JamesRoerdink. He will be laid to rest at Hartman Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday from 11:00am until the time of service.
Memorials are suggested to Oostburg Christian School or Friends of Kohler Andrae-State Park.
