James Tershner

James Alfred Tershner, 79, of Kohler, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018, at Sunny Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Sheboygan. Jim was born on September 1, 1938, in Sheboygan, to Edward and Viola (Boenisch) Tershner. He was a 1957 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School. Jim served his country from 1955-1959 in the United States Navy, serving during the Cold War. On May 5, 1962, James married Harriet Albrecht. Jim was employed at Kohler as a production worker for 34 years. Jim was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler, where he served as an elder, usher, Sunday school teacher, member of the stewardship committee and sang in men's choir. He was a member of the VFW post 9156, Special Deputies, where he worked security at Road America, was on the Kohler Fire Department, and was an assistant leader for the Kohler Boy Scout Troop. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, and participating with the Volkswagen Club.  Jim is survived by his wife, Harriet Tershner; two sons, David (Diane) Tershner, and John (fiancé Laura Schnicke) Tershner; one daughter, Lori (Joe) Wychesit; eight grandchildren, Patrick Wychesit, Mallory (Adam) Wrenn,  Joey (Jeanelle) Wychesit, Katie (special friend Sean) Wychesit, Ashleigh Wychesit, Brandy (special friend Matt) Tershner, Becca Tershner, and Cody Tershner; ten great- grandchildren, Jacob, Kayden, Jayellle, Chloe, Marayah, Mylo, Emma, Riley, Elijah, and Wyatt; two sisters, Joan (Carl) Nelson, and  Barb Stroshein; one brother, Ronnie Tershner; one sister-in-law, Irene Yurk; and two brothers-in-law, Louis Albrecht, and Bob (Janis) Albrecht. Jim is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Louis and Anita Albrecht; four brothers, Dick Tershner, Jerome Tershner, Ray Tershner, and Bob Tershner; one sister-in-law, Isabel Albrecht; and one brother-in-law, Eugene Albrecht.  A funeral service to celebrate Jim's life will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at 11am at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler with Rev. Robert Steele officiating. A burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Kohler with Military Honors. Relatives and friends may greet the family at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 9am until the time of service at 11am.  A memorial fund is being established in Jim's name for Bethany Lutheran Church, the Chaplaincy Ministry, and the VFW post 9156. For online condolences and additional information please visit www.wenigfh.com.
