James J. Treat Jr.

James Jairus Treat Jr. passed away Thursday evening, December 28, 2023, at Aurora Medical Center – Sheboygan County after a long battle with health issues. He was 89 years old.

James was born May 30, 1934, in Elmira, New York, the son of James Sr. and Irene Hosley Treat. After graduating, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He later studied Mechanical Systems at Alfred State College in Alfred, New York.

For 17 years, James worked at Kohler Company, retiring in 1991.

James was a proud veteran, and belonged to local American Legion Post 149. He enjoyed being a ham radio operator (call sign W8MQN), singing for The Velvetone Choraliers, bowling, fishing, traveling, playing cribbage and sheepshead, and was always up for a debate.

James is survived by his wife, Priscilla and their children: James Treat of Plymouth, Joel (Janet) Treat of Cedar Grove, Jennifer Jones of Wichita, KS, and Jonathan Treat of Fond du Lac; grandchildren: Carl, Cizzy, Eric and Ann; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Robert Treat and Nancy (Frank) Frederick; sister-in-law Samantha Huff; brother-in-law Hiram Gerrish; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his siblings: Patricia, Jan and Charles. 

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00AM-1:00PM. He will be laid to rest at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested.
