James Joseph Voigt, 79, of Kohler, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 27th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born on June 22, 1945, to Rudolf and Lucille (Moldenhauer) Voigt in Milwaukee. He graduated from Spencerian Business College in 1966. Jim met the love of his life, Margaret Jahnke, at Rufus King High School and on September 17, 1966, they were united in marriage at Lake Drive Baptist Church in Bayside, WI.
Jim worked as a Medicare Audit Supervisor for Blue Cross Anthem from 1977 until his retirement. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and his kindness, warmth, and sense of humor were noted by everyone he met. He loved spending time with his family, traveling and experiencing different cultures, going for long walks and bike rides, and writing his memoirs, short stories, and letters to friends and family. He was an avid and accomplished tennis, pickleball, and table tennis player.
He was a member of Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church since 2000 and previously was a member of Grafton Baptist Church. Over the years, Jim served as deacon, elder, and treasurer. Jim loved to share his faith and prayed faithfully for numerous family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marge; children, Jason Voigt (Alyssa Royster), Lisa Voigt (Pedro Pereira), Megan Shvartsman (Dan Shvartsman); grandchildren Hannah Shvartsman (Brock Romanoski), Isaac Shvartsman, Rebecca Shvartsman, Benvindo Pereira, Wilder Voigt; and sisters Nancy Machnik (Dennis), Gloria Hetzel (David). He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Fred and Agnes Jahnke, sister Doris Rehorst and his dear brother Robert Voigt.
A memorial service will be held for Jim at Sheboygan eFree Church on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00am with Bishop Walter Harvey and Pastor Jon MacDonald officiating. A livestream of the service can be found by visiting Jim’s obituary page on wenigfh.com. Relatives and friends may greet the family at church on Saturday from 9:00am until 10:45am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in Jim’s name to BabyCare, Inc. (P.O. Box 263, Kohler, WI 53044).
