Jay A. Veldboom, 66, of Oostburg, died on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at his home following complications after heart surgery, with his family by his side.Jay is the son of the late Harry and Sarah (Van de Wege) Veldboom. He was a graduate of Oostburg High School and a graduate of Lakeshore Technical College, graduating with honors with a degree in Accounting. In his youth, he worked on his family's dairy farm and had his own herd of Holsteins. As a teenager, he also worked at Gibbsville Cheese and later at the Larson Company in Waldo. Jay married the former Pamela TeRonde of Oostburg, and together they owned and operated their dairy farm near Oostburg. Early on, he also worked for Irv Hesselink as a breeder for Carnation Breeders. He never missed a day milking in over 50 years until his health no longer allowed it.Jay enjoyed watching and participating in the annual tractor pulls at the Sheboygan County Fair. He was also active in 4-H with his children when they showed their Holsteins at the local and state level. He loved collecting and restoring antique tractors as well as collecting scale model tractors. He was a longtime fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Milwaukee Bucks. Jay also enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. He loved to show his Monte Carlo SS at Ducktona and other area car shows. He loved his two dogs, Teddy and Massey. Jay was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Town Wilson and over the years served as Deacon, Trustee, Treasurer and served on the Board of Sheboygan Area Lutheran High School.Jay is survived by his wife, Pamela; his three daughters, Tracy of Sheboygan, Heather of Oostburg and Jennifer (Michael) Daggett of Random Lake; his son, Kevin of Oostburg; his twin grandsons, Nicholas and Natron Daggett; three sisters, Genevieve (Ray) TenPas of Oostburg, Lois (Lyle) Van Klompenberg of Hudsonville, MI and Karen (Ralph) Burgenmeyer of Grand Rapids, MI; his brother, Ralph (Bonnie) Veldboom of Spring Lake, MI; and many nieces, nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Louella, his niece, Lynn Van Klompenberg; father and mother-in-law, Randall and Elenora TeRonde; and his brother-in-law, Randall TeRonde Jr.Funeral services to celebrate Jay's life will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 12pm at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg with Rev.
