Jean Carol Schreurs, 79, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Jean was born to Marvin and Harriet (Soerens) Vander Jagt on July 16, 1947, in Sheboygan. She graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1965 before going on to attend Marvel Beauty School in Milwaukee for a year.
On October 15, 1966, Jean was united in marriage to Donald Schreurs in Cedar Grove.
Jean was a member of Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School volunteer, and supported generations of youth group activities and events with ample supplies of homemade treats and snacks. Jean worked as a cook at Cedar Grove Schools for 19 years until her retirement in 2005. She was a Holland Fest Klompendance leader for many years and was an avid Rocket sports fan. Jean was a talented hairdresser, painter, sewer, quilter and cake decorator. Jean enjoyed motorcycle riding, bowling, camping, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her children, Kristy (Daniel) Weiss of Cedar Grove, Jodi (Kenneth) Hilbelink of Waldo, Daniel (Melissa) Schreurs of Cedar Grove; grandchildren, Brooklyn (Parker) Lemke and Joshua (Hannah) Weiss, Morgan (Jared) Reklaitis and Reid (Elizabeth) Hilbelink, Addyson and Jaxson Schreurs; great-grandchildren, Harleigh and Cohen Lemke, Shae and Francesca Reklaitis. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Doris (Larry) Wieberdink, Charlene Schreurs, Karen Schreurs, Linda Vander Jagt, Karen Vander Jagt; step-sister, Ginny (Jon) Jose; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; parents; parents-in-law, Earl and Alda Schreurs; step-mother, Jean Vander Jagt; brothers, Lee Vander Jagt, Mark Vander Jagt; twin sister, Jane (Rodney) Teunissen; siblings-in-law, Pauline (Gerald) Katsma, Glenn Schreurs and Myles Schreurs; and step-brother, Gary (Karen Otte) Eernisse.
A funeral service for Jean will take place at Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 9:00am. Visitation will be held at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 4:00-7:00pm. Jean will be laid to rest next to Don at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be designated in Jean’s name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
