Jean Caan Sebald passed away Monday, April 20,2025, at Aurora Medical Center in Sheboygan.
She was 101 years old. Jean was born on February 16, 1925, in Sheboygan, to William and Jennie Houmes Caan. She attended schools in Sheboygan Falls and Kohler graduating from Kohler High School in 1943. She attended Hope College in Holland, MI and Milwaukee University. On May 03, 1947, she married Merlin Sebald. Together they shared 35 years, filled with endless love. Merlin preceded her in death on January 19, 1982. Jean worked in the auditing department at H.C. Prange Co. until her retirement in 1990.
Jean was a longtime faithful member of First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls. She enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.
Jean is survived by two daughters: Susan Teunissen of Sheboygan Falls and Sara Wilson of Holland, MI. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Scott (Janelle) Teunissen, Amy (Chad) Teunissen-Kooyer, Jarrod Teunissen, and Becky (David) Schmidt-Fleece. Also survived by her great-grandchildren: Michaela Teunissen, Owen (Jolee) Parmeter, Bethany Teunissen, Grace Parmeter, Sawyer Teunissen, Kaitlyn Teunissen, Ethan Parmeter, Abigail Teunissen, Elle Teunissen, Cooper Fleece, Nicholas Kooyer and Jacob Kooyer. She is also survived by her great-great-grandchildren: Marilla Jo Parmeter, and twins Ambrose Parmeter and Laurence Parmeter.
Jean is also preceded in death by her parents William and Jennie Caan, son-in-law Richard Teunissen, grand-daughter in-law Erin Teunissen, brother Glenn (Mary) Caan, parents-in-law Francis and Emma Sebald, brother-in-law Richard (Esther) Sebald.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Jean’s life at First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 1:00pm with Pastor Brad Veenendaal officiating. Burial will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held at church on Friday from 11:00am until the time of service.

A memorial fund will be established in her name for the First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pine Haven – Giddings Avenue Campus, for the wonderful care they gave to Jean for the past four years. Also, a special thank you to Pastor Brad Veenendaal for his visits, prayers, and words of hope over the years.
A mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a great-great-grandmother. The loss is always great no matter what time of life or age. It is a privilege to love. It is an honor to grieve the loss while giving thanks for such a life.
