Joan Meylink

Joan Muriel Meylink, 92, of Cedar Grove, died at St. Nicholas Hospital on Saturday morning, January 7, 2023, surrounded by her children who loved her very much.

Joan was born on September 6, 1930, in Sheboygan, the daughter of John and Elvera Henning.  She graduated from Sheboygan High School in 1948.  On June 23, 1954, she married Wesley Meylink.

She was a member of Faith Church and First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove.  While she was at First Reformed Church, she was active in the choir for many years and served as choir director.  She was a lunch lady at Cedar Grove High School and worked the snack bar.  She was a leader and accordion player for the Cedar Grove Klompen Dancers.  She went with them to Washington DC in 1976 to march in the Bicentennial parade.  She enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting; traveling with family; playing cards, board games and dominoes; and she treasured the family gatherings on Sunday mornings after church at her house for soup, summer sausage, cheese and something sweet.

She is survived by her three daughters, Wendy (Mike) Heinen, Sherry (John) Ten Pas, Cory (Jim) Meinen, all of Cedar Grove; one son Paul (Nancy) Meylink of Elkhorn; 10 grandchildren, Ben Heinen, Alex and Peter (Alena) Meylink, Bob (Liz), Katie and Clare Ten Pas (fiancé, Jack Randall), Jamie (Abbie) Meinen, Luke (Heather) Meinen, Sadie (Matt) Mentink, and Weston Meinen; beloved grandchild-in-law, Anna (Eric) Heinen Meinnert; 19 great grandchildren, Caleb, Abbi, Levi, Grace, Harper, Dani, Avery, Melody, Jack, Nolan, Reid, Cael, Peyton, Knox, Axel, Myla, Orion, Skye, and Elesay; three sisters, Arlene Wieberdink of Cedar Grove, Carol Drews of Sheboygan, and Vicki (Pat) Radovan also of Sheboygan; her brother in law John (Ruth) Meylink of Burnette, sisters-in-law Joan (Zip) Nyenhuis of Monona, and Karen Schreurs of Cedar Grove. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley, her parents, her grandson Matthew Heinen, brothers-in-law, Frederick Drews, Mike Weber, Leslie Wieberdink, Miles Schreurs, nephews, Greg and Jeff Nyenhuis, and special uncles, Butch, Rollie, Harry.
