Joyce Riviers

Joyce Ann Riviers, age 90, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away Saturday evening (Dec. 19) at Pine Haven Christian Home, where she had been a resident for the past year. The angels came, took her tired hand, and led her to the Lord. She was born July 22, 1930, in Sheboygan to the late Clarence and Wanda (Hummitzsch) Fasse. She attended grade school in Johnsonville, and graduated from Plymouth High School. On October 21, 1950, she married Theodore Riviers at Saron United Church of Christ. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2013 after 62 years of solid marriage. Joyce was a member of the Homemakers (HCE) for more than 61 years. She was the originator and coordinator of the Sheboygan County "Stitches of Love" Headwear Program, an original member of the Sweet Adeline's singing group, Camp Fire Girl Leader while her daughters were in the program, a member of the Sheboygan Falls Woman's Club, and much loved crossing guard. She enjoyed reading stories to the children in the Head Start Reading program for many years.   Joyce loved to cook, bake and sew for family and friends including making the Bridesmaid dresses for both her son and daughters' weddings. Joyce loved to shop at thrift stores, take small trips, and eat at different restaurants with friends Lois and Barb. Survivors include, one Son: Daniel (Carla) Riviers of Sheboygan Falls; granddaughter: Lisa Mehan of Sheboygan Falls; great-granddaughter: Taylor Mehan Sheboygan; son in law: Ron Roethel of Port Washington; sister: Virginia Feldman of Plymouth; sister in laws: Betty Sabo of Idaho; and June Fasse WA; nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Theodore, she was proceeded in death by two daughters: Wanda Jean Riviers; and Karen Ann Roethel; grandson: Brian Behr; father and mother-in-law: John and Emmadora (Carter) Riviers; brother: William Fasse; sister Audrey Laack; four brothers-in-law: Raymond Boll; William Laack; Warren Feldman; and Ernie Sabo. A public visitation will take place at the Wenig Funeral Home of Sheboygan Falls on Tuesday, December 29th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Wearing a facemask and social distancing are required. A private funeral service will take place at 12:00 pm with Rev. RaeAnn Beebe presiding. All are welcome to join the livestreamed service by visiting www.wenig.live/joyceriviers . Burial will follow at Saron UCC Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contributions can be made in Joyce's name. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Angels at the Pine Haven Covenant Home for their loving care.
