Judith E. Van Ess

Judith E. Van Ess, 81, of Sheboygan, went to her Heavenly Home, peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

Judy was born on May 8, 1942, to Walter and Esther (Boldt) Neubeck in Milwaukee. She was a graduate of Oostburg High School. Judy was united in marriage to Stuart Van Ess on November 25, 1961, in Oostburg. He preceded her in passing in 2008.

Judy was a member of Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Oostburg, where she served as a part of the funeral luncheon committee, Rebekah’s Society, and taught Sunday School with Stuart.

Judy enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, and going for drives. She could instantly become friends with anyone. Judy was witty, clever, and generous to those around her. She had a strong faith and hope in Christ Jesus and what was to come.

Judy is survived by her children, Lori Van Ess Kelly of Port Washington, Jim (Lily) Van Ess of Washington, Jeff (Janet) Van Ess of Menomonee Falls, Lisa (Bill) Falcon of Elkhorn; 10 grandchildren, Eric, Megan (Brian), Chelsey (Erik), Nick (Casey), Joshua, Kristin, Alex, Jake (Erica), Max, and Mitchell; and 4 great-grandchildren and one on the way. She is further survived by her sisters, Joan Heinen of Sheboygan and Joyce (Karl) Hiester of Pennsylvania; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart; grandson, Aaron Van Ess; parents; brother, James (Diane) Neubeck; and brother-in-law, Duane Heinen.

A funeral service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at Bethel OPC on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 1:00pm. The funeral is able to be viewed by visiting wenig.live/JudyVanEss. Judy will be laid to rest next to Stuart at Oostburg Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may greet the family at church from 11:00am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in Judy’s name to Bethel OPC.
