Kenneth H. Gifford, 85, of 3718 South 15th Street, Sheboygan, died on Saturday morning, September 11, 2010 at the Sheboygan Aurora Medical Center. Ken was born on August 31, 1925 in Buffalo City, WI, the son of the late Harrison and Adele (Appel) Gifford. He graduated from high school in Cochrane, WI in 1943 and then entered the US Navy, where he served in the South Pacific from 1943-46 during World War II. On April 17, 1948 he married Mary E. Flanigan in Winona, MN. Mary preceded Ken in death on August 26, 2007. Ken was a shift supervisor at Wisconsin Power and Light Co., where he worked for over 33 years before his retirement in 1985. Ken was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Sheboygan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring guns, fix-it projects, and spending time with his grandchildren. Ken was a very social person, enjoyed visiting with people, and had a god sense of humor. Ken is survived by one daughter, Mary (John) Rohan of Mundelein, IL; four sons, Bruce (Diana) Gifford of Pueblo West, CO, Daniel (Denise) Gifford of Fond du Lac, Mark Gifford of Sheboygan, and Timothy Gifford of Richland Center; eleven grandchildren, Sean, Meaghan, and Molly Rohan, Shannon (Don) Bradshaw, Christopher (Alexa), Jeffrey, Dana, Timothy Jr., Matthew, Sean and Catie Gifford; five great grandchildren, Elliot, Lars, Wade, and Ole Gifford and Kate Bradshaw. Ken is also survived by a former daughter-in-law, Kathryn Gifford of Waukesha. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; and one brother, Hilbert Gifford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Parish located at 2705 South 14th Street, Sheboygan, with Rev. Glenn Powers officiating. Burial and military honors will take place on Thursday at St. Mary Cemetery in Winona, MN. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls on Tuesday, from 4-7 pm, and on Wednesday, at church, from 10 am until the time of Mass at 11 am.
