Lamont J. Daane, 83, formerly of Oostburg died Wednesday afternoon, February 28, 2007 at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home where he had resided for the past two and a half years. Lamont was born on June 10, 1923 in the Town of Lima, the son of the late Leonard and Delia (Oonk) Daane. He graduated for Oostburg High School in 1941 and attended from the LaCrosse Teachers College. Lamont served in the US Army during World War II from 1943-45. On October 22, 1954 he married the late Arlean Huenink in Cedar Grove. Arlean preceded him in death on May 10, 2004. Lamont worked at Garton Toy Co in Sheboygan and the Musebeck Shoe Company in Cedar Grove. Following his retirement he worked part-time at Dutchland Plastics in Oostburg. Lamont was a member of the First Reformed Church in Oostburg where he served as a deacon and head usher. He was also a member of the American Legion Hartman Lammers Post in Oostburg. Lamont enjoyed sports and was a devoted fan of the Oostburg Dutchmen. He is survived by one sister-in-law, Jurean (Cornelius) Van Sluys of Cedar Grove; two brothers-in-law, Orville (Dien) Huenink of Mission, Texas, and Kenneth Ten Haken of Cedar Grove; two step sisters, Marion (Lloyd) Walvoord of Oostburg and Doris (Ken) Carlson of Minnesota; one step brother, Glenn (Sharon) Meerdink of Ohio; dear friends of the John and Marliss Katsma family of West Salem, WI. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. Lamont was preceded in death by his wife, Arlean; an infant brother, Harvey Daane; and two sisters-in-law, Doris Huenink and Mary Ten Haken. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in the Town of Wilson. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Saturday from 9:30 until the time of services at 10:30 am.
