Lissette "Lisa" Herman

Lisa (Lissette) Herman, 54, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 13, after a 20-month battle with Stage IV colon cancer.  She was surrounded by family and friends.  Lisa was born on November 27, 1969, in New York, NY, at a hospital on 5th Ave. Lisa was a real student of the Bible, and she loved to teach it to others.  She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 13, 1985.

She graduated from Kennedy High School, Marble Hill, Manhattan in 1988, and from the Wood School Executive Secretarial program in 1989.

On May 12, 1990, she married Duane Herman, and they spent 2-½ years volunteering together at the world headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brooklyn Heights, NY.

In 1992, she moved with her husband to Sheboygan, WI, where she continued to share her faith at every opportunity, devoting over 16 years to the full-time volunteer ministry throughout her life.

One of the greatest joys of her life was seeing her son, Nicholas, born in 2000, become a young man that any mother would be proud of.

For over 15 years, she worked part time at the University of Wisconsin - Sheboygan as the coordinator of the after school Spanish program, writing the curriculum, and teaching elementary school students in several school districts.  She loved to teach, and was remembered for using songs and her beautiful singing voice as a teaching tool.  After working as a substitute teacher for the Sheboygan Area School District for many years, Lisa began to work full time as an educational assistant at Sheridan Elementary in 2016.

Lisa was known for her faith, kindness, thoughtfulness, and compassion.

Lisa is survived by her husband of 33 years, Duane, her son, Nicholas, her sisters, Dianne Ocasio and Kimberly (Bruce) Brown, her brother-in-law Daniel (Inez) Herman, her sisters-in-law Deena (Dave) Hawe and Delinda (Donel) Regan, and nieces and nephews Max (Morgan) Regan, August Regan, Heriberto (Alycia) Ocasio Jr, Robert (Dianthie) Ocasio, Johnathan (Brittney) Ocasio, Julianne Ocasio, Donaven Ocasio, Ayden Brown, and Andrew Brown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio and Olga Cruz.
