Lloyd D. Hesselink, 74 formerly of Cedar Grove died Monday morning, November 6, 2006 at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home where he had resided for the past 12 years. Lloyd was born on May 29, 1932 in the Town of Holland, the son of the late Wesley and Delia (Ver Gowe) Hesselink. He attended Green School in the Town of Holland. On December 5, 1959 he married the late Romell Miske in Hingham. She preceded him in death on December 5, 1967. Lloyd was a member of Hingham Reformed Church. He loved living on the family farm near Cedar Grove. In his younger years Lloyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time down at the river on the farm. He was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. When his kids were younger he enjoyed being the umpire for backyard baseball games. Lloyd lived at Sunny Ridge for the past twelve years. During that time he was involved in many activities at Sunny Ridge; Diners Club, bingo, the Blue Cappers, Wednesday church service, and Bible study. He went on the yearly fishing trip to Silver Springs, the fall leaf tour of the Kettle Moraine, and the Milwaukee Brewers game with the other residents. Lloyd could be found socializing at the Sunny Ridge Snack bar daily. He is survived by two daughters, Dianne (Richard) Conrardy of Sheboygan and Brenda Ringel of Hartland; two sons, James Hesselink of Adell and Kent (Denise) Hesselink of Brighton, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Jennifer and Kathryn Conrardy, Benjamin Hesselink-Ringel, David, Joseph, Matthew, and Kenneth Hesselink; two sisters, Jeanette (Dick) Dulmes, and Lillian (Jerry) Dykstra, both of Hingham; three sisters-in-law, Leora Hesselink of Oostburg, Leona (Wes) Mulder of Sun Prairie, Mildred (Victor) Heckendorf of Pueblo, Colorado; and two brothers-in-law, Roland Miske of Colorado and Harold Miske of Port Washington. Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, Amy Jo Hesselink; and one brother, Vernon Hesselink. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg with the Rev. Steven J. Bakker officiating. Burial will take place at Hingham Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday from 4-7 pm, and on Saturday from 9 am until the time of the service.
