Lorraine E. Mentink, 90, of Oostburg, peacefully went home to her Lord on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Pine Haven Christian Communities – Haven Drive.

Lorraine was born on October 1, 1932, to Benjamin and Effie (Prinsen) Schreurs in Cedar Grove. She attended Cedar Grove High School. On May 21, 1954, Lorraine married Meryl Mentink in Cedar Grove.

Lorraine was a lifelong member at the First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg, where she served on the lunch committee and Christian School Society. Lorraine worked on the family farm on Poodles Corners before working at Kohler Co. in the brass division for 25 years. During their retirement years, Meryl and Lorraine enjoyed running an onion blossom stand fundraising for charity at various local events and transported motor homes throughout the whole nation for Morgan Drive Away. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and always looked forward to the summers at the pond and holiday family gatherings.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Carol (Ron) Meinnert of Sheboygan Falls, sons, Terry (Debra) Mentink and Tom (Carmella) Mentink, both of Oostburg; grandchildren, Eric (Anna), and Tyler Meinnert; grandson-in-law, Jason Mentink; grandchildren, Trevor (Katy) Mentink, TJ (Laura) Mentink, Tabitha (Chris) Weavers, Tiffany (Paul) Bimmel, Tianna (Peter) Nyenhuis, Tamika (Kyle) McGranahan; great grandchildren, Gabe, Keyanna, Rylen, and Titus Mentink, Caden, Camren, Cohen, and Casen Weavers, Gage, Link, Waverly, Fairren, and Brixton Bimmel, Mahaney, Lawson, Soli, Lynlee, Kyrie, Amina, and Alari Nyenhuis, Kwinn, Kopelan, Kendry, Kinnik, and Keely McGranahan, Caleb, Abbi and Levi Heinen, Grace and Harper Meinnert, and John Mentink. She is further survived by her sister, Pearl Hilbelink; two sisters-in-law, Mariette Schreurs and Faye Mentink; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Meryl; parents; granddaughter, Julie Mentink; granddaughter-in-law, Samantha Meinnert; brothers, Bernard (Margaret), and Robert Schreurs; brothers-in-law, Marvin Hilbelink, Arvin (Helen) Mentink, Robert Mentink, Norman Mentink; sister-in-law Lois Mentink.

A funeral service will be held to celebrate Lorraine’s life at First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 5:00pm. If unable to attend, all are welcome to join via livestream by visiting wenig.live/LorraineMentink. She will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland.

Relatives and friends may greet the family at church on Monday from 2:00 until the time of service.

A memorial fund is being established in her memory for First Christian Reformed Church and Oostburg Christian School Building Fund.

The Mentink family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Discipleship Wing at Pine Haven Christian Communities and to the staff of Aurora at Home Hospice for their compassionate care of Lorraine and her family.
