Marion C. Theune

Marion C. Theune, 89, went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice after a battle with ALS.

Marion was born March 2, 1937, in Sheboygan, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Rusch) Ehlert. She attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Central High School in 1955. On June 27, 1959, she was united in marriage with John S. “Jack” Theune in Sheboygan.

A caregiver by nature, Marion worked as a Nurses’ Aide and Activities Director at Morningside Nursing Home from 1976-1995.

Marion was a longtime member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church, where she was a Calvinette leader, sang with the church choir, and served as the funeral committee chair. She and Jack enjoyed attending Sheboygan eFree Church over the past 9 years.

Marion shared her time and talents generously as a volunteer at Sheboygan Christian School where she was involved with the Women’s Auxiliary, Parents’ Club and Apple Pie Fundraiser, as well as working at the Good as New Store. She also volunteered as a Salvation Army bell ringer and belonged to the Pine Haven Women’s Auxiliary.

Marion enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, knitting, reading and traveling, especially to Europe where she and Jack traveled 12 times, 3 of those trips as special anniversary celebrations with their kids, making countless memories . Above all, she loved being a mom and grandma, and cherished time spent at family holiday gatherings and on family vacations.

Marion is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Jack; daughters Terry (Greg) Ebbeling of Northbridge, MA and Kathy (John) Andringa of Sheboygan; and son John (Ann) Theune of Waupun, WI. She is further survived by grandchildren: Kellsie (Mike), Jodi, Scott (Mari), Kathryn, Sam, Ben (Sierra), Olivia (Jay), Owen (Mya) and Celia; great-grandchildren Colton, Seth, Sophie, Jackson, and one on the way; sisters-in-law Judy DuMez and Jean DuMez; other relatives and many dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law Jannis and Jeanette Theune, sister-in-law Janet (Bob) Riemersma, and brothers-in-law Dave and Mike DuMez.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg. Pastor Jon MacDonald will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday, April 2 from 4:00-7:00 PM and again on Friday from 10:00-11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at Oostburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sheboygan Christian School or Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

The family would like to thank their “Dream Team” from Embrace as well as the staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, especially Bre and Calista, for their compassionate care and support.
