Marjorie Obbink

April 9, 1938 — December 24, 2021

Oostburg

Marjorie Jane Obbink, 83, of Oostburg, met her Savior on Friday, December 24, 2021.

Marge was born to Edward and Nellie (Brill) Kappers on April 9, 1938 in Oostburg. She was united in marriage to Harlan “Bud” Obbink on January 17, 1959 at First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg.

Marge was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed being a part of women’s Bible studies, singing in the choir, and attending other church activities.

She, along with Bud, enjoyed golfing with friends, playing cards, and often visiting with family and friends over a cup of coffee or a dinner out.  Her grandchildren were very special to her, often making trips to see their sporting events or music concerts when they were young and taking them on long weekends to the Dells or up north fishing. In retirement, Marge and Bud enjoyed traveling around the country through many road trips and bus trips with friends. The highlights of their many trips were visits to see their grandchildren in Florida and Seattle.

Marge is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo (Tim) Nyenhuis; grandchildren, Hope (Michael) VanderPloeg, Ryan (Taylor) Nyenhuis; great-grandson, Mason Harlan VanderPloeg; brother, John (Charlotte) Kappers; and sister, Minnie Dykstra. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; sisters, Phyllis (Carl) Huibregtse and Janet (Howard) TeBeest; and brothers-in-law, Willard Dykstra, Leon (Ruth) Obbink and Wesley (Phyllis) Obbink.
