Mary Pakkebier

November 25, 1943 — January 26, 2013

Mary A. Pakkebier, 69, of Sheboygan, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013, at St. Nicholas Hospital. Mary was born November 25, 1943, in Oostburg to David and Margaret (Rauwerdink) Van Stelle. She was a 1961 graduate of Oostburg High School. On February 16, 1963, Mary and Jay Pakkebier were united in marriage at Gibbsville Reformed Church. Mary worked as an Educational Assistant for the Sheboygan Area School District for over 30 years bringing joy to many preschool and multi-handicapped children. Mary was a member of Bethany Reformed Church in Sheboygan, where she was involved with the Women's Guild and served as a Youth Group Leader. She was a longtime WEAC Union negotiator and representative. Mary loved spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid sports fan and baseball coach. Mary appreciated going to concerts and shows with friends. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking, and mystery tours. Mary is survived by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Jay; one daughter, Monica (Andy) Bonestroo of Sheboygan; two sons, David (Dawn) Pakkebier of Aurora, IL and Curtiss (Lisa) Pakkebier of Cedar Rapids, IA; five grandchildren, Bailea, Matthew, Reid, Cade Pakkebier, and Libby Bonestroo; one brother, Larry (Diane) Van Stelle of Oostburg; one sister-in-law, Velma Pakkebier of Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and one brother-in-law, Allen Pakkebier. Funeral services to celebrate Mary's life will be at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Bethany Reformed Church in Sheboygan with Rev. Philip Rose officiating. Private family interment will be in Hingham Cemetery, Town of Lima, on Thursday. Relatives and friends may greet Mary's family from 3-8 PM on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
