Neil Robert Markham

Neil Robert Markham, 44, passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 into the eternally peaceful presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Born to Kent and Vicki (Bergman) Markham on May 13, 1982 in Janesville, Neil was the oldest child of eight, a role he cherished and excelled at. As a child, his family moved to Oostburg where he was active in sports, band, and earned many awards including Badger Boys State. He was a talented musician, and served his community playing his trumpet at Memorial Day celebrations and veteran’s services. He graduated from Oostburg High School in 2000 and went on to study at UW Sheboygan and UW Whitewater. Neil was a longtime, valued employee at Mountain Promotions in Oostburg, where he began while still in high school. He managed production and was highly skilled in silk screening and embroidery.

He loved being outdoors, whether it was kayaking, sailing, musky fishing, walking his dog Maybelle at the lake, or golfing with his dad. He held many special memories of summers in Minocqua with family and friends, and camping. His hobbies included woodworking and model railroading that he learned from his Grandpa Bergman.

Neil’s life can be defined by the way that he deeply loved and cared about his many friends and family members. He was quick to come alongside and help people with his wisdom, sense of humor and amazing smile. He will be remembered for his resilience, determination and the love he had for others. He loved deeply, and will be deeply missed.

Neil is survived by his parents Kent and Vicki Markham of Oostburg and his siblings: Adam (Nikki), Brandon, Derek (Emily), Caleb, Amanda (Kyle) Frier, Miranda and Isaac; nieces and nephews: Keegan, Preston, Aria, Josiah, Elijah, Lydia and Boaz; grandmother Diane Bergman; grafted in family Nichole, Makennah and Dakota Verstoppen; aunts and uncles: Julio (Marissa) Rodriguez, Kim (Kathy) Markham, Kurt (Barb) Markham, Colet (Gary) Cook, Colleen Jennings, Tiffany (Terry) Bergman-Bray and Tricia (Roger) Corrigan; cousins: David, Gabriel, Elizabeth, Emily, Angela, Andy, Alex, Cassandra, Jessica, Cameron (Haley), Jessica, Brianna and Brooke; his beloved dog Maybelle and many close friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Robert Bergman and Marshall “Dan” and Helen Markham, and cousin Dakota Cook.
