Norman G. DeBlaey

Norman G. DeBlaey, 92, was brought to his eternal home on Sunday, January 29, 2023. He was a good and faithful leader to his family, friends and community. He was always a joyful, positive and encouraging person who left a great legacy to follow.

Norman was born December 26, 1930 in the town of Holland, son of Elmer and Laureen (Gabrielse) DeBlaey. He graduated from Oostburg High School in 1948 and went on to study masonry. For over 45 years, he worked as a brick layer with Lee Realty and TenPas Construction, retiring in 1995.

On April 8, 1953, Norman was united in marriage with Faye Ruesink at Cedar Grove Reformed Church. The two shared 36 years together, and raised 3 children. Faye preceded him in death in 1989. On September 8, 1990, Norman was united in marriage with Marilyn TeWinkel at Gibbsville Reformed Church. The couple were married 32 years and created many wonderful memories.

Norman was a member of Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Oostburg where he served as an elder and Sunday School teacher for 25 years. He was active in Oostburg Christian School and Sheboygan County Christian High School, and served on the school board. Following his retirement, he and Marilyn volunteered for SOWERS, traveling to needy areas to assist with projects across the US for many years. Norman enjoyed camping with his family, boating, water skiing, hunting, RVing, and loved the outdoors, especially in Door County. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends.

Norman is survived by his wife of 32 years, Marilyn and his children: Dave DeBlaey of Phoenix, AZ, Judy (Lee) Tiemeyer of Holland, MI and Ann (Bill) Schaub of Lombard, IL. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Ashley (Cody) Wiseman, Lauren (Kody) Burwell, Ryan (Camille) DeBlaey, Megan Tiemeyer, Joel (Tanya) Tiemeyer, Emily Schaub, Alyssa Schaub and Abby Schaub; great-grandchildren: Hunter, Reese and Smith Wiseman, Chandler and Caleb Burwell and Anastasia and Solomon Tiemeyer; siblings Carl (Betty) DeBlaey, Marilyn (Roger) DeMaster, Lois (Tom) Armour; brothers-in-law Kenneth TeWinkel and Wayne Ruesink; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his first wife Faye; daughter-in-law Julie DeBlaey, siblings: Chester (Tannie) DeBlaey, Nelda DeBlaey, Dorothy (Matt and Marlyse) VanStelle, Arlene (Henry) Vanderwalker, Dorothy Ruesink, Carl (Lois) TeWinkel and Judy TeWinkel.
