Pamela Dunn Ellis

Pamela Dunn Ellis graduated from this life on Saturday, March 25th. 2023.

She was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on April 13, 1927, to George Warren Dunn and Lees Breckinridge Dunn.  She was the youngest of three children; brother George W. “Dusty” Dunn and sister Catherine “Kitty” Dunn Voell both graduated from this life before her.  Her father and brother were both career military men.

As a young woman, she traveled with her family extensively and attended a variety of schools, including Julliard in New York for a year in the 1940s.

On August 20, 1947, she married another military brat and career military man, Walter Graham Ellis.  They met and married in Ansbach, Germany where Pamela’s father and soon-to-be husband were both serving in the occupational army following World War II.

When “Graham” asked Pamela’s parents for her hand in marriage, her mother told him, “You know, she’s only marrying you to get away from me.”

He responded, “I’ll take her any way I can get her.”

They enjoyed a close relationship and a happy life together until his death in 1996.  They travelled extensively until their retirement to Oostburg, Wisconsin in 1972.  Their Oostburg home was the site of many family reunions and warm memories.

She is survived by son James B. (Sharon) Ellis of Surprise, Arizona; daughter Louise (Dale) Robson of Sheboygan Falls, son Walter C. (Diane) Ellis of Oostburg, and daughter Catherine “Kate” Ryan of Madison.  She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She looks forward to joining her husband, brother, father, father-in-law, and mother-in-law at Arlington Cemetery in Virginia.
