Pearl Hilbelink, 100, of Cedar Grove, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Cedar Grove Gardens.

Pearl was born on September 10, 1923, to Benjamin and Effie (Prinsen) Schreurs in the Town of Holland. She attended Maple Grove School and graduated from Cedar Grove High School. 

Pearl was united in marriage to Marvin E. Hilbelink on April 27, 1944, in the Town of Holland. She farmed with her husband on the Hilbelink Homestead in the Town of Holland. She worked at various restaurants, Gilson Manufacturing, and Dutchland Plastics. Pearl was an active lifelong member of First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. Pearl and Marvin volunteered at many nursing homes and were active in the Other Way Ministries in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She also generously gave her time to family members in need. Pearl enjoyed Bingo, handstitched quilts for each grandchild, and loved spending time with her family.

Pearl is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn (Larry) TenPas of Cedar Grove; two sons, Glenn (Diane) Hilbelink and Mark (Sue) Hilbelink, both of Cedar Grove; 13 grandchildren, Ken (Jodi) and Mike (Grace) Hilbelink, Brenda (Tony) Schwaller, BJ (Colette) Hilbelink, Darryl (Karen), Jeff (Shona), Randy (Kristi) TenPas, Scott (Pam), and Kevin Hilbelink, Jamie (Ben) Dolfin, Brian Hilbelink, Kim (Matt) VanDeWege, and Angela (Justin) Woods; 41 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mariette Schreurs; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; sister, Lorraine (Meryl) Mentink; brothers, Bernard (Margaret) and Robert Schreurs; and nephew, Leon Schreurs.

A funeral service to celebrate Pearl’s life will be held at First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 10:00am with Pastor BJ Hilbelink officiating. She will be laid to rest next to Marvin at Cedar Grove Cemetery. 

Relatives and friends may greet the family at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Monday from 5:00pm-8:00pm and again at church on Tuesday, from 9:00am until the time of service.

Memorials are appreciated in Pearl’s name for the support of the Christian School in Bouloume, Haiti.

Pearl’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Cedar Grove Gardens and Preceptor Hospice.
