Phyllis Sue (Heinen) Ledeboer, 94, went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. 

Phyllis was born February 3, 1930 in the Town of Holland, daughter of Clarence and Alice (Schreurs) Heinen. She attended Beaver Creek Grade School, and graduated from Oostburg High School in 1948.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Edward Roy Ledeboer on October 30, 1952. The couple celebrated 48 years together before his passing in 2001. She resided in Gibbsville and the last 14 years she made her home at the Pine Haven Christian Communities.

She was a lifelong member of Gibbsville Church, where she was a member of Bethany Circle, Women’s Missionary Society, sang in the choir and helped with children’s activities.

Phyllis worked at Cedar Grove Bakery, served lunch and cleaned at Gibbsville Grade School, and was employed at Gibbsville Cheese Factory. She was an excellent seamstress, making clothes for her daughters and in her later years, each of her grandchildren was blessed with a handmade quilt. She also knitted blankets and hats for preemies. She was an excellent baker and gardener. 

Phyllis is survived by her daughters: Susan (Craig) Droppers, Kathy (Ed)Knox and Julie (Timothy) Brill; grandchildren: Benjamin (Nicole) Droppers, Kyle Droppers, Aaron (Cynthia) Knox, Courtney (Craig) Huffman, Ryan (Samantha) Brill, Shaun (Morgan) Brill and Janae Brill; eight great-grandchildren: Amalia and Luke Droppers, Samuel Knox, Ruth Huffman, McKenna and Lillian Brill, Olivia and Kaylynn Brill. She is further survived by her sister A. Joan Heinen; brothers-in-law John VanWyk and Willis (Carol) Ledeboer; sister-in-law Muriel Ledeboer; other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, parents-in-law John and Gertie Ledeboer,  granddaughter Stacie Brill, sisters Marlys (Donald) Hilbelink and Lavonne VanWyk, brothers Ralph (Marian) Heinen and Wesley (Jeannette) Heinen, sisters-in-law Lela (Gerald) VanderPlas and Josie (Gideon) Fuerst, brothers-in-law Lloyd (Leona) Ledeboer and Garrit Ledeboer.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Gibbsville Church. All are welcome to view a livestream of the service on Phyllis’ obituary page at www.wenigfh.com . The family will receive visitors at the church on Sunday April 7th from 3:00-6:00PM and again Monday from 10:00AM until the time of service.

She will be laid to rest beside Edward at Gibbsville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice or Gibbsville Church.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.
